What is Kayou?
Kayou (卡游) is a Chinese collectables company founded in 2011. It released its first licensed cards — Ultraman — in 2018, followed by its first trading card game series in 2019, and has since grown into one of the largest trading card publishers anywhere, holding licences for close to a hundred global brands including Naruto, My Little Pony, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Harry Potter, Marvel and DC.
The key difference between Kayou and a traditional TCG is intent: Kayou cards are made for collecting rather than competitive play. There's no tournament scene and no rulebook to learn. The appeal is the artwork, the finishes, and the chase.
Kayou rarities and chase cards
Kayou sets are built around a rarity ladder, with the tier code printed on the card itself. Alongside the common and rare cards you'll find escalating tiers such as SR, SSR, SP, ZR and OR, plus series-specific tiers that change from set to set. The higher tiers are where Kayou's reputation comes from — heavy foiling, embossing, textured surfaces and gold detailing, often on full-art frames.
Because tier codes vary between franchises and waves, it's always worth checking the odds printed on the box for the specific set you're buying.

Kayou has a large following in Asia and has been expanding into Western markets, but UK supply is still patchy — a lot of what's available comes direct from overseas sellers with long delivery windows and the risk of import charges landing on the doorstep. Kayou FAQs
Are Kayou cards official?
Yes. Kayou produces its card lines under formal licence from the rights holders — for example, its Naruto cards are licensed through the anime's production studio. They are legitimate licensed products, not counterfeits or fan-made cards.
Are Kayou cards in English or Chinese?
Most Kayou product is printed in Simplified Chinese for its home market, and English-language releases have begun appearing as the brand expands internationally. The language of each product is stated on its individual listing, so check there before ordering.
Can you actually play a game with Kayou cards?
Some Kayou series include battle rules, but there's no established competitive format in the way there is for Pokémon or Magic. Nearly everyone buys them to collect, trade and display.
Are Kayou cards worth collecting?
The high-tier chase cards have developed a genuine secondary market, and graded Kayou cards do trade. As with any collectable, values move — buy the cards and the artwork you actually like, and treat any future value as a bonus rather than the plan.
